What granular permissions are available for the project's Observations tool?

Add Project-Level Observation Template

Provides the ability to create Observation Templates at the project level.

Add Project-Level Observation Types

Provides the ability to create Observation Types at the project level

Assign Observations to Users in the Same Company

Limits a user’s ability to assign Observations to other users within the same company.

Can Assign Standard and Eligible Read Users to Observations

Grants a user the privilege to assign 'Standard' level and ‘Read’ level users, who possess the 'Can be Assigned as Observation Assignee' granular permission, to Observations.

Note: This granular permission only applies to observations created by the user.

Can be Assigned as Observation Assignee

Provides the ability for the user to be assigned as an Observation Assignee, which includes commenting and setting the status to 'Ready for Review'.

Close Observation and Comment

User can close Observations they have permission to view. They can also comment in the activity feed.

Comment on an Observation

User can comment on Observations they are able to view.

Configure Advanced Settings: Observations

Provides the ability to access the general settings for Observations and make changes. Users can also see project-level types and templates but cannot make changes without appropriate granular permissions.

Create an Observation

Grants a user the privilege to create Observations and edit observations they created. This includes updating all Observation statuses.

Create an Observation from an Inspection

User can create an Observation from an Inspection line item.

Create Observation Email

Provides the ability to create and send Observations from the Emails tab.

Delete and Retrieve Observations

User can access the recycle bin and view, retrieve, and bulk retrieve Observations they have access to view.

Delete Project-Level Observation Template

Provides the ability to delete project-level Observation Templates.

Delete Project-Level Observation Types

Provides the ability to delete project-level Observation Types.

Edit any Observation

User can edit or bulk edit any Observation they have access to view.

Edit Project-Level Observation Template

Provides the ability to change the name of project-level Observation Templates.

Email All Observations

Provides the ability to email all Observations, provided the user can view all private observations from the banner in the Observations list view.

Email My Observations

Provides the ability to email Observations created by the user from the banner in the Observations list view.

Update Open Observation Status and Comment

When this GP (Granular Permission) is enabled, a user can change the status to 'Initiated', 'Ready for Review', or 'Not Accepted' if the status is not 'Closed'. They can also comment in the activity feed.

Update Observation status to Ready for Review and Comment

If the Observation status is not 'Not Accepted' or 'Initiated', the user can respond in the activity feed and change the status to 'Ready for Review'.

Update Status and Comment on Observations Assigned to Users within Same Company

Grants a user the privilege to respond to updates and add comments to Observations assigned to other users within the same Procore company account. This includes observations marked as 'Private'.

Note: Users with this granular permission can only update a status to 'Ready for Review'.

View Any Private Observations

User can view any Observation marked private, even if they are not associated with it.

View Change History

View the Change History tab on an Observation.

View Private Observations Assigned to Users within Same Company

Grants a user the privilege to view all Observation items assigned to colleagues within their same company, including observations marked as 'Private'.
