Create Custom Observation Categories

Background

The Observations tool in Procore helps teams track and manage safety and quality issues on their projects. To better support diverse project needs, Company Admins can create up to ten custom observation categories, each with its own unique fieldset. This flexibility ensures that the right information is collected for every observation, improving data quality and project outcomes.

Things to Consider

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Company level Admin tool.

  2. Under 'Tool Settings', click Observations.

  3. Click the General tab.

  4. Click + Create Category.
    You can also change the name of one of the pre-seeded categories provided by Procore by clicking on the category name.

  5. Enter the name for the category.

  6. If applicable, assign the category to Quality or Safety.

  7. Click Create.

Next Steps

  • Once you create your observation categories, you can then create fieldsets for your new category.
