Why is my P6 (.xer) or MS Project (.mpp) file failing to import?

Ensure the file is not currently open in another program. Also, check that the file size does not exceed platform limits. If the "Live Preview" doesn't generate, it usually indicates a corrupted source file or an unsupported file version.
