Preview a File in the Project Level Documents Tool

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:

    • 'Read Only' or higher permissions on the Documents tool.

  • Additional Information:

    • You can preview the following types of files in the Documents tool:

      • PDF files

      • Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx, etc.)

      • Microsoft Powerpoint

      • Microsoft Excel files (.xls, .xlsx)

      • Image files such as JPEG (.jpg), bitmap (.bmp), GIF (.gif), and PNG (.png)

      • Rich text format (.rtf)

      • MP4 files (.mp4)

    • Supported file types can be viewed in their entirety in the Documents tool's Viewer. See View a Document and View and Download 3D Models in the Documents Tool.

    • File types that cannot be previewed in the Documents tool include text files (.txt), MS Project files (.mpp), XML files, and HTML files.
      Note: If the file type is not supported, the 'View Document' button will not appear.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the project's Documents tool.

  2. Locate the file you want to view.

  3. Click the name of the file to preview it in the viewer.
