Set Deadlines for Activities
Background
Managing deadlines allows you to establish a fixed reference point for when an activity should be completed. Unlike a standard finish date, which may shift based on predecessor logic, a deadline remains stationary. By comparing the current finish date to the locked deadline, you can use the Deadline Variance column to instantly identify which tasks are slipping and by how many days.
Things to Consider
Required User Permissions: 'Standard' level permissions or higher on the project's Scheduling tool.
Steps
Set Deadlines for Activities
Navigate to the project's Scheduling tool.
Select the tasks you want to set deadlines for:
Click a single activity row, or hold CTRL/CMD while clicking to select a group.
Right-click the selection and choose Set deadline to finish date.
Note: Small flags will appear next to each activity on the Gantt chart, marking the locked finish date.
Note: The dates are now logged in the Deadlines column.
Monitor Schedule Slippage
