Why am I getting an error when re-importing my updated schedule into Procore?

Answer

This error usually occurs if your updated schedule file was saved using Save As instead of Save in your third-party scheduling software (such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or Phoenix).

Why does this happen?

When you save a schedule file using Save As, your scheduling software generates a brand-new file with completely new internal activity IDs (GUIDs).

Procore relies on these hidden activity IDs to link master schedule items to your field Lookaheads, Submittals, and other project data. If you upload a Save As file, Procore blocks the import to prevent breaking those links and losing your field team's granular updates.

How do I fix it?

  1. Open your master schedule in your third-party scheduling software.

  2. Make your necessary updates.

  3. Use Save (Ctrl+S or Cmd+S) to update the existing file—do not use Save As.

  4. Return to Procore's Scheduling tool and re-import the updated file.

Note: If you must rename or move your file, do so directly in your computer's file explorer after saving changes in your scheduling software, rather than using Save As within the program.
