View Markups for Specifications
Background
Procore’s Specifications tool now includes the Unified Viewer markup toolbar on the web, enabling teams to annotate PDF files using private or public layers. While markups are currently viewable in read-only mode on mobile, permissions can be configured to let users manage public markups and track document downloads.
Things to Consider
Steps
To add markups to a specification section in the viewer:
Open the specification section in Procore's PDF viewer.
Click Add Markup in the top toolbar to open the markup tools.
Use the toolbar to add shapes, text, callouts, or measurements to the document.
Open the Markups
panel on the left side to manage your markup layers:My Markup (Private): Markup creation defaults to a new private group unless you select otherwise. Markups added here are saved as private and are visible only to you, though all users with access to a document have access to private markup functionality.
Public Markups: Move or publish markups to the public layer so they are visible to all users with permission to view the specification. Private Markup groups can be promoted to a public group by clicking and dragging a group or using the ellipsis
icon menu on the group you wish to promote.
To download a Specification from the viewer:
If you are viewing a specification section in Procore's PDF viewer, you can download the document directly with or without markups.
Open the specification section in the viewer.
Click Download in the top navigation bar.
Select one of the following options:
Download with Markup: Downloads the specification PDF including all visible public markups as controlled by the visibility eye
icon symbol on the Markup Groups, regardless of any active markup filter settings.Download without Markup: Downloads the original specification PDF without any markups.
