Create a Source Column

Background

In a Procore budget or forecasting view, a source column pulls data from corresponding columns in the Financial Management tools. Depending on the selected source, advanced filtering and grouping options are available to refine the displayed data.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:

    • 'Admin' level permissions on the Company level Admin tool.

  • Additional Information:

    • Beta Feature Quantity-based Source Columns:

      • Procore automatically aggregates 'Total' and 'Grand Total' values in quantity-based source columns when all line items share the same unit of measure (UOM).

      • If line items within a quantity-based source column use different units of measure (UOM), Procore will be unable to aggregate the values, and a dash (—) will be displayed in place of the 'Total' and 'Grand Total' values.

Steps

Beta - Coming Soon

Company Administrators can enable the Forecasting: Worksheet Columns beta in Procore Explore, which starts rolling out on October 21, 2026, and will be available to all accounts by March 2027.

Create a Source Column from the Columns Page

Show / Hide Steps

  2. Under 'Tool Settings', click Budget.

  3. Select the Columns tab.

  4. Click + Create and select Source Column.

  5. Under 'General Information', configure the following:

Note: You can assign a different display name when managing a budget or forecasting view.

    2. (Optional) Include column in Single Tool Budget reports. Mark this checkbox to include the column in Single Tool budget reports.

  6. Under 'Data Source', configure the following:

    1. Source. Select your target data source from the drop-down list.

       Tip

Why do source columns have different options? Source columns pull source data from different Financial Management tools, and each field is a unique data type. To learn about each source column and its group and filter options, see What source columns are available in custom budget views?

      1. Mark the specific sub-option checkboxes for the selected source.

      2. Set any applicable filter criteria from the available drop-down lists (such as Amount, Status, Scope, or Markup).

        Generally Available

The new RFQ Status filter for the Budget's Change Event ROM is now generally available. You can use this filter to specify when an RFQ amount should replace a ROM value. This helps you configure how potential costs appear in your budget, ensuring forecasts reflect only the most reliable cost estimates while keeping committed costs separate.

  7. (Optional) Under 'Data Display', configure the following:

    1. Beta Feature Only show values in this column for certain cost types. Mark this checkbox to dynamically show or hide values and options within this column based on cost types.

      1. When cost type. Select Includes or Excludes from the drop-down list.

      2. value of. Select one or more cost types from the drop-down list.

        Note
        • Up to 10 cost types are displayed at a time. To find additional cost types, enter keywords for cost types in the search field.

        • If your company uses both ERP-synced cost types and Procore standard cost types, ensure your column definitions account for both sets. You can manage this in one of two ways:

          • Option 1 (Separate Columns): Create separate columns specifically for ERP cost types and another for Procore standard cost types.

          • Option 2 (Single Column): Set up one column that includes both ERP and Procore standard cost types.

  8. Click Create.
