View Documents in the Project Level Documents Tool
Things to Consider
Required User Permissions:
To view a 'Public' document:
'Read only' or higher level permissions on the Documents tool.
To view a 'Private' document:
'Admin' level permissions on the Documents tool.
OR'Read Only' or 'Standard' level permissions on the project's Documents tool, and at least ONE of the following:
The user must be added to the File Permissions or Folder Permissions of the document. See Manage Permissions for Files and Folder.
The 'Access Private Folders and Files' granular permission must be enabled on the user's permission template.
Additional Information:
Some image attachments may include the option to view them in a map view based on the files' GPS coordinates. See Which Procore tools let me view digital image attachments in a map view?
The following file types can be viewed in the Documents tool's viewer: .pdf, .doc, .xls, and .mp4. See What file types and formats are supported in the Unified Attachment Viewer? Note: If your file is a different file type, you may still be able to Preview the File. If the file type is not supported, the 'View Document' button will not appear.

View a Document's Information
Navigate to the Documents tool.
Select the file or folder you want to view information for.
Click the Info
icon to open the Information panel.When selected, you can view important information for the document, such as the title, date, and version. This is also where you can view and manage the following sections specific to the document:
Note: Some sections (such as File Tags) are only available for files, and not folders.Permissions

Download Log
Change History
Emails
Related Items
View a Document in the Viewer
Navigate to the project's Documents tool.
Locate the file for review within the folder directory.
Click the File Name or the Image Thumbnail to launch the document viewer.
Note: The document occupies the full screen for optimized viewing.
4. Navigate through folder content and versions using the top navigation bar:
Browse Adjacent Files: Click the Previous (<) or Next (>) arrows to view other documents in the same folder.
Select Specific Files: Click the File Name at the top of the screen to open a dropdown menu and select a different document.
Note: You can use this dropdown to view the document Checked In or Checked Out status. For example: This document has been checked out by [Name] until [Date Time].
Toggle Versions: Click the Version label (e.g., V3) to select and view a previous version of the document.
5. Manage the current document view using the following integrated features:
Return to Current Version: Click View Current button in the yellow notification banner to exit an older version and return to the most recent upload.
Execute Keyword Searches: Click the Search icon, enter a term in the search bar, and click the hyperlinked results in the side panel to jump to specific pages. Click the Search icon again to close the sidebar.
Adjust Magnification: Click the + and - magnifying glass icons at the bottom of the viewer to zoom in or out.
Download Content: Click Download to save a copy of the file to your computer.
6. Access metadata and history through the side panel tabs:
A. Info Tab: Expand these sections to review file details:
General Information: View the Last Modified date, Version number, File Type, Size, and Tags.
Tracking: View the names of users currently tracking the file.
Permissions: View the names of users with permission to the file (if the file is private).
B. Activity Tab: Expand these sections to monitor user interaction:
Version Log: Review all uploaded versions of the file.
Download Log: See which users downloaded the file and when.
Emails: View any emails associated with the file.
Change History: Review any changes made to the file in Procore.
7. Click the close button in the top-right corner to close the viewer and return to the Documents tool.
