What is the RFI Manager role?
Answer
In Procore, an RFI Manager is the person responsible for overseeing an RFI throughout its lifecycle. This person is the gatekeeper between the RFI's Creator and the Design Team and is responsible for reviewing all Draft RFIs and either (1) providing a response to the RFIs and closing them out or (2) opening the draft RFIs, assigning them a number and then assigning them to the appropriate member of the design team, who then provides a response to the RFI's question.
What is the RFI Manager's workflow?
Once the RFI Manager reviews the draft RFIs assigned to them, they can:
Respond and Close: Submit a direct response and closing the item. Refer to How do I submit a response to a 'Draft' RFI when I am the RFI Manager?
Reassign for Input: Route the RFI to one or more reviewers to collect their feedback.
When all reviewer responses are in, the RFI Manager selects the Official Response. At this stage, the RFI can be closed, the responsible parties notified, or a Change Event created if necessary. Go to Create a Change Event to learn more.
Who can be assigned as an RFI Manager?
By default, the RFI Manager must be one of the following:
A user with Admin level permissions on the project's RFIs tool.
A user with Read Only or Standard permissions who has the Act as RFI Manager granular permission enabled.
Changing the Default Assignment
Automatic Selection: When creating a new RFI, Procore automatically populates the default RFI Manager configured in your project settings.
Manual Overrides: Users with appropriate permissions can manually change the RFI Manager to any eligible user when creating or editing an RFI.
RFI Manager vs. Admin Capabilities
Users with Read Only or Standard permissions (plus the Act as RFI Manager granular permission) can perform the tasks below only for RFIs they created (Standard users only) or RFIs where they are the designated RFI Manager. Admin users can perform all tasks across all RFIs.
