Fetch and Verify Lookahead Activities
Background
Fetching and verifying lookahead activities allows project teams to import upcoming tasks from the master schedule into a localized lookahead view to review, update, and confirm real-world task progress. This process ensures field operations stay aligned with overall project timelines while maintaining high schedule health and identifying data discrepancies before sharing schedule reports.
Things to Consider
Required User Permissions:
'Standard' level permissions or higher for the Scheduling tool.
Additional Information:
Lookahead tracking features are fully supported for master schedules natively uploaded via standard formats (.mpp, .xer) as well as the new Asta Powerproject (.pp) and MS Project XML (.xml) beta formats. To enable this beta, go to Manage Features With Procore.
Updating Existing Schedules
When updating an existing schedule file in your third-party scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Phoenix):
Always use Save to update your file. This preserves the internal activity IDs needed to map existing Lookahead activities in Procore.
Do not use Save As. Using Save As creates a brand new schedule file with new internal IDs. Attempting to upload a Save As copy into Procore will trigger an error because it breaks the associations with your project's Lookahead activities.
