How are AI credits managed?

Procore Credits are the metric used to measure all AI actions across your account. Every AI question, search, and workflow has a real computing cost. Like most AI products, Procore and Datagrid meter that usage but rather than tracking it separately across tools, large language models, and API calls, everything rolls into one credit pool. Learn how you receive and spend Procore Credits and how to monitor and manage them against your usage goals.

How do I get credits?

Depending on your purchased plan, your AI access is managed in one of these ways:

• Digital Coworker Starter Pack: Designed as an introductory flat-fee entry package, the Starter Pack does not bill by the credit. This allows you to explore the product's value while mapping out your team's natural usage patterns for six months before choosing a plan.

• Digital Coworker Pro and Enterprise: These tiers use credit-based pricing. Your account receives a pool of Procore Credits that refreshes on a monthly cycle.

• Datagrid standalone: Credit terms are set by your specific contract. Depending on what you purchased, your credits may refresh monthly, annually, or over a fixed-term period.

Running low on credits: Once your account uses up its available credits, you have a grace period of a few interactions and then credit-consuming AI features pause until your credits next refresh. If you need additional credits before then, contact your account representative to review your options.

Which actions cost credits?

Procore Credits are consumed based on the complexity of the request and the amount of data your account maintains. Credit-consuming activity falls into two categories: Engagement (interactions with the AI) and Learning (indexing, storing, and syncing your data), described below.

Engagement

When the AI answers a basic question, it uses fewer credits, and when it reasons across multiple files to carry out a complex multi-step workflow, it uses more. The AI consumes credits any time users engage with it by asking questions, interacting via SMS, or generating new agent templates.

• Account admin may see these actions labeled in Datagrid's usage reports as, Agent Interaction, Agent SMS Interaction, Knowledge Search, or AI Agent Template Generation.

• Mode affects credits: Each time you send a question or request to the AI, you can choose the mode that best fits your task:

  • Ask - Optimized for speed. Credit cost is lowest.

  • Execute - Plans and executes multi-step tasks and actions across your data to help with complex problems. Credit cost is highest.

• The Pro plan is optimized for credit efficiency because it relies on out-of-the-box agents, which are often less credit-heavy than custom workflows.

Learning, storing, and syncing

The AI keeps your project data organized, vectorized, and ready for AI reasoning. Unlike general-purpose AI, Procore AI learns your data with a model built specifically for construction. It's designed to recognize construction industry terminology, relationships, and document types.

Procore charges for learning and maintaining your project data at a fixed rate of 3 credits per gigabyte (GB) of data per day. For example, a project with 100 GB of data is charged 300 credits that day. This is called the Multi-modal Indexing value. Because this charge is spread across each day of your contract, there is no large up-front data ingestion cost to begin using AI on a project. Note: Datagrid customers who do not have Procore AI may have a different credit model for learning and storage costs.

• Each project's daily Multi-modal Indexing cost is listed next to the project's name in the Procore AI enablement view in the Company Admin tool. Procore re-calculates the value daily, and an increase or decrease in project data results in a new indexing charge for that day. Learn more.

How can I monitor and limit credit usage?

Basic view

Procore and Datagrid admin of all tiers can click on the name of their plan tier in the Datagrid standalone application at app.datagrid.com. For example, click on 'Pro Plan' or 'Enterprise Plan' in the left panel to open the Manage Plan modal and see how many credits their teamspace has used versus how many remain.

Detailed views

Company Administrators can monitor consumption and set budgeting limits from within the Control Tower section in Datagrid.

Set Budget Guardrails:

In the Budgeting tab, admin can set credit maximums at the account level and receive alerts before the limits are reached. Learn more.

In the Reporting tab, account admin can view visualizations of credit consumption by category, track global metrics, view their most active users and teamspaces, or export itemized transaction logs to audit which workflows are driving usage. Learn more.
