Managing Asset Attachments

Background

This section explains how administrators and project users can add, view, manage, and remove attachments for assets at both the Company and Project levels. Attachments allow you to store essential documents such as O&M manuals, warranty certificates, drawings, specifications, and photos directly within an asset record, ensuring teams have consistent access to the right information throughout the asset’s lifecycle while improving efficiency, collaboration, and compliance.

Add an Attachment

You can attach relevant files to an asset from your local computer or directly from your Procore project tools. You can add attachments in the following methods:

  1. From the Asset Register

  2. From the Asset Details page

  3. Bulk upload Attachments

Add an Attachment From Asset Register

You can add attachments directly from the Asset Register without opening the asset details page.

  1. Click the Attachment icon next to the asset in the Asset Register.

  2. If attachments already exist for the asset, the icon displays the attachment count and opens the Attachments tab on the Asset Details page. If no attachments exist or you click on Add Attachments, the attachment upload window is displayed.

  3. Choose the source for your file:

    • My Computer: Upload one or more files directly from your device.

    • Company Documents: Link to a file stored in the project's Documents tool.

    • Photos: Link to an image from the project's Photos tool.

    • Drawings: Link to a drawing from the project's Drawings tool.

  4. Click Attach to proceed.

  5. After selecting your file(s), an intermediate screen will appear. Here you can select an Attachment Type for each document from the list configured at the admin level.

  6. Click Save to complete the upload. A confirmation message will appear, and the file will be listed in the Attachments tab.

Add an Attachment From Asset Details Page

  1. Navigate to the desired asset and open its details view.

  2. Click the Attachments tab.

  3. Click the Add Attachments button.

  4. Choose the source for your file:

    • My Computer: Upload one or more files directly from your device.

    • Company Documents: Link to a file stored in the project's Documents tool.

    • Photos: Link to an image from the project's Photos tool.

    • Drawings: Link to a drawing from the project's Drawings tool.

  5. Click Attach to proceed.

  6. After selecting your file(s), an intermediate screen will appear. Here you can select an Attachment Type for each document from the list configured at the admin level.

  7. Click Save to complete the upload. A confirmation message is displayed, and the file will be listed in the Attachments tab.

Bulk Upload Attachments

You can add attachments to multiple assets at once directly from the Asset Register. 

  1. Select the checkboxes next to the assets you want to attach files to.

  2. Once multiple assets are selected, a bulk action bar appears at the top of the table.

  3. Click the Add Attachments button.

  4. Choose the source for your file:

    • My Computer: Upload one or more files directly from your device.

    • Company Documents: Link to a file stored in the project's Documents tool.

    • Photos: Link to an image from the project's Photos tool.

    • Drawings: Link to a drawing from the project's Drawings tool.

  5. Click Attach to proceed.

  6. After selecting your file(s), an intermediate screen will appear. Here you can select an Attachment Type for each document from the list configured at the admin level.

  7. Click Save to complete the upload. A confirmation message will appear, and the file will be listed in the Attachments tab for all the selected assets.
