Create Funding Rules in a Project

Create funding rules in a project to establish percentage based cost allocations across one or more funding sources. Applying funding rules to contract line items automatically updates drawdowns and balances when approved. Establishing clear allocation rules ensures accurate funding attribution across project commitments without manual spreadsheet tracking.

• Required User Permissions on the company's Funding Sources tool.

• Additional Information:

  • To save the configuration, ensure that the percentage splits across all selected funding sources in a rule total exactly 100%.

  • You can create up to 100 funding rules per project.

  • Funding rules support percentage values up to two decimal places.

  • Inactivating a funding rule removes it from SOV drop-down menus while preserving the rule on existing line items

    • Modifying percentage splits on existing rules updates the rule definition for draft objects upon approval, but it does not recalculate values on previously approved contracts.

  • Any leftover cents generated by percentage calculations are automatically assigned to the source with the highest percentage, or to the first listed source in the event of a tie.

1. Navigate to the project level Prime Contracts tool.

   Note: If the Owners Dictionary is enabled in your account, this tool displays as Funding Contracts.

2. Click the Funding Rules tab.

3. Click + Create.

4. Enter the following information:
   Note: Fields with an asterisk (*) are required.

   • Name*: Enter a Funding Rule name.

   • Description: Enter a description for the funding rule.

   • Funding Source*: Select a Funding Source from the drop down menu.

   • Split*: Enter the percentage allocation for this funding source (1–100%).

     • If you select 1 funding source, set the split to 100%.

     • If you select 2 or more funding sources, the sum of all split percentages across all sources must equal 100%.

5. Click + Add Source to add another funding source.

6. When finished, click Create.
