Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Connection Manager for Submittals feature require General Contractors to do anything extra?
No. A guiding principle of this initiative is to minimize disruption. Once a connection is approved, syncing happens automatically when the upstream company closes and distributes submittals exactly as they normally would.
Are the synced submittals editable in the receiving project account?
No. In this Data Retention phase, connected submittals are read-only copies. They serve as a secure, permanent record in the downstream project account.
Will submittals marked as Private be synced to downstream project accounts?
Yes, but this will only happen if the receiving account is actively participating in that specific private submittal.
What happens if a synced submittal is later revised or edited by the primary account?
Any changes made to the distributed submittal in the primary account will automatically reflect in the downstream account to keep the record up-to-date. This includes:
Status updates
Redistribution
Creation of a Revision
How does Procore know who to share the submittal information with if a user is on multiple accounts?
The data connection is established at the company and project level, rather than the individual user level. When a project is connected, any user within the downstream company's Procore account who has access to that specific project will be able to view the synced submittals. Procore Connect ensures that data flows securely between the designated company accounts, regardless of how many Procore accounts an individual user might belong to.
How do customers enable the Connection Manager for Submittals feature?
Connections are managed through the existing Connection Manager tool within Procore. The Submittals tool will appear as an option for creating a connection request. See Initiate a Project Connection.
What exactly gets synced with the Connection Manager for Submittals feature?
At this time, only distributed submittals currently sync. After distribution, any upstream changes like status updates, revisions, or re-distributions automatically update the downstream version. The downstream view receives the submittal’s general info and distribution summaries, including workflow responses and attachments. While the downstream view excludes the workflow table and schedule details, it includes a full PDF cover sheet. This PDF mirrors the upstream original and contains the workflow table and links to all attachments.
