Search and Filter
Background
You can use Search and Filter to allow you to quickly find and refine the list of assets in your register, ensuring you can efficiently locate the specific information you need. You can use these features independently or together to narrow down your results.
Search Assets
The search bar at the top of the asset list view allows you to perform a broad search across all asset fields.
How to Search: Enter the search term into the search box to search for assets. To clear your search, click the X icon.
Search Logic:
"Contains" Search: The system looks for the search term within all standard and custom asset fields, including hidden ones. For example, a search for "valve" will find assets with "ball valve" or "safety valve."
Case-Insensitive: Searches are not case-sensitive, so "hvac" and "HVAC" will return the same results.
Search Results: If your search yields no results, a "There are no assets to display right now" message will appear. The results will honor any existing table sorting criteria that has been applied.
Filter Assets
The Filter panel allows you to refine the asset list by applying specific criteria to different fields.
How to Filter: Click the Filters
icon to open the filter panel.Filter Panel:
The panel includes default fields such as Type, Status, Trade (company and project level), Project (company level), and Location (project level).
Except for Asset Type, all other fields support multi-select filtering.
Click Add Filter to choose additional fields such as dates, custom dropdowns, or other fieldset-driven fields to refine the list.
Click Clear All Filters to remove all filters at once.
Filter Logic:
"AND" Logic: When you apply filters across different fields (e.g., Type = "HVAC" and Status = "Active"), the system will show only assets that match all conditions.
"OR" Logic: When you select multiple values within a single field (e.g., Status = "Active" OR "Planned"), the system will show assets that match any of those values.
Filter Results:
The asset list updates automatically as filters are added or removed.
If no assets match the criteria, the message "There are no assets to display right now" is displayed.
Combining Search and Filters
You can use the search bar together with the filter panel to refine results even further. Apply filters first to narrow the asset list to a specific group (e.g., all “HVAC” assets), and then use the search bar to locate a particular asset within that filtered set (e.g., searching for “fan”).
