Import a Bill of Materials

Background

Importing a Bill of Materials allows you to quickly populate a new project estimate with data from previous sources or external spreadsheets. This process eliminates the need for manual entry, ensuring that quantities, units of measurement, and costs are accurately transferred into the Estimating tool.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:

    • 'Standard' or 'Admin' level permissions on the project’s Estimating tool.

  • Additional Information:

    • To ensure a successful import, you must use the provided Procore template.

    • The following fields are required in the template: Quantity (Qty), Unit of Measurement (UOM), and Item Cost.

    • Imported items are automatically grouped by the import date.

Steps

Download and Prepare the Template

  1. Navigate to the Bid Board or Portfolio Planning tool and select the project.
    OR
    Navigate to the project's Estimating tool.

  2. Click the Estimating tab.

  3. Click Import at the top.

  4. Select Download Bill of Materials Import Template.

  5. Open the file on your computer and enter your material information.

  6. Save the completed template.

Import the Template

  1. Navigate to the Bid Board or Portfolio Planning tool and select the project.
    OR
    Navigate to the project's Estimating tool.

  2. Click the Estimating tab.

  3. Click Import at the top.

  4. Hover over Bill of Materials (BoM).

  5. Select your saved file from your computer to upload it.

  6. Optional: Click within the title of the newly created group to rename it.
