Locations Tool (web) - Beta Access and Feedback

The Locations (Beta) tool is available on Procore Explore. The features and documentation of this tool are subject to change without notice during the course of development.

To access the beta and provide feedback Show/Hide Details

  • How to access:  

    • Join the web-based Locations Beta program using Procore Explore.

    • Ensure the new Locations (Beta) tool is active on your project.

    • Ensure you have the required user permissions. To learn more, see Permissions.

    • Navigate to your project's Locations tool.
      Note: You can switch between the new Locations tool (web) and the legacy Locations page. Click the vertical ellipses Icon Vertical Ellipsis icon located at the top right corner of the new Locations tool and select the Manage Locations (Legacy) option. The legacy Locations page appears in a new tab.

  • How to provide feedback during beta: Click the vertical ellipses Icon Vertical Ellipsis icon located at the top right corner of the new Locations tool and select the Share Feedback option. Use this option to report bugs or suggest improvements. Your feedback is critical to the final development of this tool.

  • Support: To report issues, contact your Procore point of contact, Beta program lead, or submit a ticket to Procore Customer Support.

You can create one or more locations manually for a project directly in the Locations tool. Locations give you the ability to link different Procore items (RFIs, Submittals, and more) to specific locations on a job site. This helps project team members to identify the exact location on a job site where a defect was observed, where materials are to be installed, or where a project change order occurred.

Locations are generally tiered in a hierarchy to associate parent and sub locations. You can add Tier 1 location (s), or add a sub location to a Tier 1 location. For example, Let's say your project includes the construction of a parking lot. You may use a location structure as follows:
Parking Lot A > Ground Floor > EastParking Lot A > Ground Floor > WestParking Lot A > Level Two > EastParking Lot A > Level Two > West

Note: You can create locations in bulk using one of the following Import options in the Locations tool:

Create a Location Using the Create Button

  1. Navigate to the project's Locations tool.
    The Locations page appears with the List View.

  2. Click the Create button located at the top right side of the Locations page.
    The New Location screen appears.

  3. Add information to the following fields:

    Location Fields Show/Hide

    • Location Name: Enter an appropriate name for the a location you want to add (for example, Demo Area). This is a mandatory field.

    • Parent: Leave the field blank to create a Tier 1 location, or search for an existing location to make your entry a sub location (child).
      Note: If you have already created a Tier location, this dropdown menu displays that location name.

    • Code (optional): Enter an alphanumeric value to identify the location. This value must be unique for each project.
      You can click the icon - project model manager - show icon to toggle the visibility of the Code column.
      Note
      : The Code field is used by Document Manager (available for select, non-US regions) to tag and name documents with a location.

    • Type (optional): Select a pre-defined option from the dropdown menu or create a custom value to categorize your location.
      The following pre-defined options are available in the Type dropdown menu.:

      • Site Boundary

      • Building

      • Level

      • Unit

      • Room

      • Zone
        These pre-defined location types help in classification, filtering, improved navigation, and reporting. You can filter locations by Type in the Tree View or List View table. You can also add your own custom location types. You can create up to 100 custom location types with a limit of 255 characters each for a project. See Create and Manage Custom Location Types.

  4. Click Save.

Create a Sub Location Using the Inline Creation

  1. On the Locations page, hover over an existing location name in the Tree or List View table.

  2. Click the More Actions Vertical Ellipsisicon.

  3. Select New Sub Location.
    Blank fields are displayed for entering the values.

  4. Type the name of sub location under the Location Name column and complete the other column values.

  5. Hit Enter to add the changes.
