Configure Work Breakdown Structure Company Settings

Background

Company Work Breakdown Structure settings allow you to control what projects can inherit from your project templates, and what changes to Work Breakdown Structure can be modified at the project level. These settings streamline project setup and ensures data consistency across your portfolio, whether your account is integrated with an ERP or not.

Things to Consider

Steps

In Beta

Company Administrators can enable the UOM & WBS: Assign Units of Measure to Budget Codes and Lock on Line Items beta in Procore Explore.

  1. Navigate to the Company level Admin tool.

  2. Under 'Company Settings,' click Work Breakdown Structure.

  3. Click the settings Icons Settings Gear icon.

  4. Mark the checkbox for each setting you want to enable.

    • Sub Jobs. This setting makes sub jobs an option on any project within your Company.

    • Budget Code Structure Edits at Project Level. This setting allows people to change the order of segments in the budget code structure at the Project level.

    • Custom Budget Code Descriptions. This setting allows people to create custom budget code descriptions for all projects within your company.

    • Copy Over WBS Sub Job and Cost Code Details When Project Templates Are Used. This setting automatically carries over sub job and cost code information along with all other WBS details to new projects when using project templates. If you have an integration, please check if this setting would negatively impact your integration before enabling it.

When the Setting is OFF (Default Behavior)

      When the Setting is ON

When you create a new project from a template, it will only include the company-level list of standard cost codes. Any cost codes or sub-jobs (if enabled) added solely to the project template will be ignored.

When you create a new project from a template, it will inherit both the company-level standard cost codes and any custom cost codes that were added specifically to that project template. It will also inherit sub-jobs (if enabled).

    • Beta Feature Prevent a project team from updating a Budget Code's assigned UoM. This setting restricts users from editing a Unit of Measure (UOM) on budget codes and financial line items.

      • When enabled, this setting restricts UOM editing based on where the UOM was assigned:

        • Assigned to Cost Type: The UOM is locked and read-only when creating budget codes using that cost type, or when applying any budget code with that cost type to financial line items across projects. See Assign a Unit of Measure to a Company Cost Type.

        • Assigned to Budget Code: The UOM is locked and read-only when applying that budget code to line items in financial tools within a project. See Assign a Unit of Measure to a Budget Code.

          Note

Enabling this setting will only affect newly created or newly applied financial line items. It does not retroactively change the UOM for existing line items.

      • When this setting is disabled, UOMs still automatically populate on budget codes and financial line items based on assigned cost types or budget codes, but users can edit them.

        Note

You can override this setting for individual projects by using the project-level setting Override company's policy for UOM editing by a project team member in the Project level Admin tool. See Configure Work Breakdown Structure Project Settings.

  5. Click Save.

  6. If you enable the Prevent a project team from updating a Budget Code's assigned UoM setting, a confirmation modal will appear.

    1. Click Enable.
