Fetch and Verify Lookahead Activities

Background

Fetching and verifying lookahead activities allows project teams to import upcoming tasks from the master schedule into a localized lookahead view to review, update, and confirm real-world task progress. This process ensures field operations stay aligned with overall project timelines while maintaining high schedule health and identifying data discrepancies before sharing schedule reports.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:

    • 'Standard' level permissions or higher for the Scheduling tool.

  • Additional Information:

    • Lookahead tracking features are fully supported for master schedules natively uploaded via standard formats (.mpp, .xer) as well as the new Asta Powerproject (.pp) and MS Project XML (.xml) beta formats. To enable this beta, go to Manage Features With Procore.

Steps

  1. In the Lookahead tab, select specific 'leaf node' activities from the master schedule to bring them into your field plan.

    • You can only fetch an activity once.

    • You can only fetch activities that have 0% progress.

  2. Compare your colorful field bars against the light gray shadow bars (which represent the master schedule dates) to identify variance.

  3. Look for the Verify Flag. This is triggered if your data is inconsistent—for example, if a task is 100% complete but the finish date is in the future.

  4. Note the capital 'A' next to dates in the grid; this indicates the activity has been 'Actualized' (progressed above 0%).
