Can I track sub-components within a larger asset assembly?

Yes. You can track individual sub-components, and once the parent asset is assembled, you can track and report at the parent level while retaining the references to its sub-components. This supports both pre-assembly tracking and post-installation reporting. See Link Sub Assets to a Parent Asset.
