How to Prevent a Lost Connection

You forgot to save the Navisworks® (NWF) file

Clash Manager stores link information within the NWF file. If you create a coordination issue without saving the NWF file, the system discards the link information when you close the issue. As a result, the connection to Navisworks® will be lost during your next session.

Always save the NWF file when creating a coordination issue. See Create a Coordination Issue.

You deleted or recreated a Clash Group in Navisworks®

The link information between Navisworks® and the coordination issue breaks when a clash group's GUID changes. Typically, this occurs when you:

  • Use Automatic Regrouping: The Regroup feature automatically deletes existing groups and creates new ones, assigning new GUIDs and breaking the link.

  • Modify Groups Manually: If you explode a linked clash group and create a new group from the same clashes, Navisworks® generates a new GUID, breaking the link.

Finalize your clash group structure before you save NWF file links when creating a coordination issue. See Create a Coordination Issue.

You compacted clash tests before syncing

The Compact function in Clash Detective deletes clashes with a Resolved status.

  • If you resolve clashes in Navisworks® and then compact the test before syncing with Clash Manager, the link breaks when Clash Manager attempts the sync because it can't find the original clashes to update their linked coordination issues. This leaves the Procore coordination issues in the Open status.

Always sync your changes with Clash Manager before compacting a clash test. To prevent links from breaking, follow the correct order of operations to ensure your Procore coordination issues are Closed properly. See Close a Coordination Issue.
