Manage Locations on the Map (Beta)

Background

You can easily manage locations or sub locations on the interactive Map pane in the Locations tool. Using the Map pane, you can directly add, view, search, edit, and remove locations.

Things to Consider

Steps

  1. Navigate to the project's Locations tool.
    The Locations page appears with the List View and Map panes.

  2. To view the location shapes in a preferred basemap style, do the following:

    1. Click the basemap preview in the Map pane.

    2. Select one of the basemap styles from the Preferences section.
      The selected basemap style is applied immediately to the map.

  3. Use the following options to manage locations on the Map pane:

    • Add to Map Icon Add To Map: To add unmapped location to the map. See Add Locations to the Map.

    • Find on Map Icon Find On Map: To quickly find a selected location on the map. When you click this option, the map automatically pans and zooms to that location's shape.

    • Search Icon Markup Search : To search locations on the Map pane. This icon is available on the Map pane.

    • Hide Icon Eye Hide: To hide a selected location's shape on the map.

    • Show icon - project model manager - show: To show a location's shape (previously hidden) on the map.

    • Remove from Map Icon Map Remove Item: To strip the spatial data while keeping the location in your List view table. This icon is available on the Detail Card in the Map pane.

    • Edit: To edit the spatial data of a selected location in the Detail Card. You can drag vertices to reshape the area or manually edit latitude/longitude coordinates.

    • Help Icon Help: To view how to create or edit a shape. This icon is available in the Detail Card and visible only when adding a location to the map.

    • Enter Coordinates: To enter coordinate values in the text box. This icon is is available in the Detail Card and visible only when adding a location to the map or editing a spatial data in the Detail Card.

    • Zoom in: To zoom in the view of the Map pane.

    • Zoom out: To zoom out the view of the Map pane.

    • Reset bearing to north: To reorient the map so that North is once again at the top of your Map pane.
