Configure Work Breakdown Structure Company Settings

Background

Company Work Breakdown Structure settings allow you to control what projects can inherit from your project templates, and what changes to Work Breakdown Structure can be modified at the project level. These settings streamline project setup and ensures data consistency across your portfolio, whether your account is integrated with an ERP or not.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Company level Admin tool.

  2. Under 'Company Settings,' click Work Breakdown Structure.

  3. Click the settings Icons Settings Gear icon.

  4. Mark the checkbox for each setting you want to enable.

    • Sub Jobs - This setting makes sub jobs an option on any project within your Company.

    • Budget Code Structure Edits at Project Level - This setting allows people to change the order of segments in the budget code structure at the Project level.

    • Custom Budget Code Descriptions - This setting allows people to create custom budget code descriptions for all projects within your company.

    • Copy Over WBS Sub Job and Cost Code Details When Project Templates Are Used - This setting automatically carries over sub job and cost code information along with all other WBS details to new projects when using project templates. If you have an integration, please check if this setting would negatively impact your integration before enabling it.

      When the Setting is OFF (Default Behavior)

      When you create a new project from a template, it will only include the company-level list of standard cost codes. Any cost codes or sub-jobs (if enabled) added solely to the project template will be ignored.

      When you create a new project from a template, it will inherit both the company-level standard cost codes and any custom cost codes that were added specifically to that project template. It will also inherit sub-jobs (if enabled).

  5. Click Save.
