Override an Asset Type ID for a Project

Background

Asset Types are created at the company level and are available across projects. Project Asset Admins can override Asset Type IDs at the project level to use IDs that are better suited to the specific requirements of their project.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions

  • Each custom Asset Type ID must be unique within the project.

  • Hiding a parent Asset Type hides all its sub-types. An Asset Type cannot be hidden if assets of that type already exist on the project.

  • Creating new asset types remains a Company level capability. To learn more, see Create Assets in the Company Assets Tool.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Project level Assets tool.

  2. Click the Configure Settings Icon Settings Gear Grey3 icon.

  3. Click the Asset Type tab.

  4. Locate the Asset Type ID you want to modify.

  5. Enter the custom ID in the Asset Type ID text box.

  6. Changes are saved automatically.

Tip

To restore the company default ID, click Revert to the company default ID icon.
