Getting Started Guide: Procore BIM Plugin for Coordination Issues

Background

After installing the Procore BIM Plugin on a Windows® computer, you gain the ability to create and manage coordination issues directly from your design software programs. This includes creating new issues, importing viewpoints, and locating specific items using Procore's search and filter capabilities. In addition, the plugin facilitates collaboration, allowing you to edit issue details, mention team members in comments, and update issue statuses without switching applications.

Things to Consider

Prerequisites

  1. Add locations to the project using one of the following methods:

  2. Assign permissions to Procore project users. See Change a User's Permissions in the Project Directory.

    Note

Not sure what permissions to grant users? Procore recommends:

    • For Staff Designers : 'Standard' permissions on the Coordination Issues tool.

      • If inviting collaborators (consultants or vendors) to join a Procore project, exercise caution. To protect your company's information, it is important ensure they are not given higher permissions or granted access to any Procore tools that contain your organization's sensitive information.

    • For Field Staff (Superintendents, Foremen, Trades): 'Read Only' permissions
