Answer

With the Model Manager tool, an Admin sets up the document repository as the first step when creating a model. For instructions, see Create a Project Model.

Important things to keep in mind:

  • Single Source Choice at Setup: When an Admin creates a new project model in Model Manager, they must choose either the Document Management or Documents tool as the source repository for all 3D trade models in the project model's federated scene.

  • Cascading 2D Sheets Source: The selection also dictates where 2D Sheets (PDF Drawings) are pulled from for 2D Sheet overlays and 2D Minimaps:

    • If the model source is Document Management, 2D Sheets must come from the Document Management tool.

    • If the model source is Documents, 2D Sheets must come from the Drawings tool.

  • No Mixed Repository Scenes: You cannot mix trade model files or 2D Sheets from Document Management and Documents within the same federated scene.

Best Practice for Using Both Repositories

If your organization needs to test or maintain workflows across both repository systems, Procore requires you to set up two separate Procore projects—one configured for Document Management and the other for Documents.
