Configure Work Breakdown Structure Project Settings
Background
Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) settings allow project administrators to manage custom budget code descriptions and determine whether the project adheres to company policies or maintains independent controls over Unit of Measure (UOM) editing restrictions.
Things to Consider
Required User Permissions:
'Admin' level permissions on the project's Admin tool.
Steps
Navigate to the Project level Admin tool.
Under 'Project Settings', click Work Breakdown Structure.
Configure the following settings as required:
Custom Budget Code Descriptions. Mark the Enable custom budget code descriptions for your Project checkbox to allow users to create custom descriptions for budget codes on this project.
Override company's policy for UOM editing by a project team member:
No, respect Company policy [Company Setting Name]. Select this option to inherit the UOM editing restrictions set in the Company level Admin tool.
Note: By default, this option is selected and displays the current company setting (Prevent a project team from updating a Budget Code's assigned UOM or Allow a project team to update a Budget Code's assigned UOM) depending on whether the company-level setting Prevent the editing of UoM when one is associated to a Budget Code is enabled or disabled. See Configure Work Breakdown Structure Company Settings.Yes, allow this project to control UOM editing restrictions. Select this option to manage UOM lock settings independently for this project.
Prevent a project team from updating a Budget Code's assigned UOM.
Mark this checkbox to restrict users from editing a Unit of Measure (UOM) on budget codes and financial line items in this project.
When enabled, this setting restricts UOM editing based on where the UOM was assigned:
Assigned to Cost Type: The UOM is locked and read-only when creating budget codes using that cost type, or when applying any budget code with that cost type to line items in financial tools. See Assign a Unit of Measure to a Company Cost Type.
Assigned to Budget Code: The UOM is locked and read-only when applying that budget code to line items in financial tools within a project. See Assign a Unit of Measure to a Budget Code.
NoteEnabling this setting will only affect newly created or newly applied financial line items. It does not retroactively change the UOM for existing line items.
When this setting is disabled, UOMs still automatically populate on budget codes and financial line items based on assigned cost types or budget codes, but users can edit them.
Click Save.
If you select Yes, allow this project to control UOM editing restrictions, a confirmation modal will appear.
Click Enable.
