Configure Budget and Forecasting Views for Analytics

Background

The Analytics tool enables you to map standard and custom budget and forecasting views directly to your company’s data warehouses or custom Power BI reports. Selecting budget and forecasting views ensures that specific budget and forecasting datasets are made available as tables (budget_views and budget_view_details) within your Analytics database. Procore prepares custom budget and forecasting data before it appears in Analytics reports.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions

  • Additional Information:

    • For additional configuration options, see Configure a Custom Budget Report.

    • The budget and forecasting data are updated twice an hour in the Company level Analytics tool.

    • Changes to your budget and forecasting settings may take up to 12 hours to reflect in Power BI reports.

    • Custom Budget & Forecasting Data Preparation:

      • Procore Standard Budget and Forecasting views require no data preparation time.

      • Selecting a different custom budget or forecasting view automatically restarts data preparation.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Company level Analytics tool.

  2. Click the Data Configuration tab.

  3. On the 'Budget and Forecasting View' card, click Edit.

  4. In the 'Edit Budget and Forecasting View' modal:

    1. Budget View. Click into the field and select one or more budget views from the drop-down list.

    2. Forecasting View. Click into the field and select one or more forecasting views from the drop-down list.

      Note
      • At least one budget view and one forecasting view must be selected for budget and forecasting data tables to populate in your Analytics database. For details on how to create a custom budget or forecasting view, see Create a Budget View and Create a Forecasting View.

      • The 'Procore Standard Budget' and 'Procore Standard Forecast' views are selected by default.

      • You can remove a selected view by clicking the X icon next to its name.

  5. Click Save Changes.
Note: A progress panel displays real-time status (ETA and percentage complete), updating to a 'Last synced' timestamp once custom budget and forecasting data preparation completes.

 Note
  • Once you configure the budget and forecasting views, data will populate in the budget_views and budget_view_details tables in the Analytics database.

  • All budget snapshots are synced automatically to the following tables, regardless of your view selections:

    • budget_snapshot_line_item_headers

    • budget_snapshot_line_items

    • budget_snapshot_line_item_forecasts
