As a field team member on a mobile device, you do not need to press a manual Sync button to update your 3D models or coordination items. The Procore Mobile app (iOS and Android) automatically synchronizes all model data, 2D sheet overlays, and 3D pins in real-time.

Steps

Here is a quick guide on how this automatic syncing works for you in the field and how to make sure you are always looking at the most up-to-date information:

Real-Time Updates (Online Connection)

Whenever you are connected to cellular data or Wi-Fi on the jobsite, your mobile app is constantly syncing in the background:

  • Pins & Coordination: If an office coordinator creates a new Coordination Issue, Observation, or Punch List pin on the web, it will instantly appear in your mobile viewer.

  • Status Changes: If you change the status of an issue on your mobile device (e.g., changing an Observation from Open to Ready for Review), that update immediately syncs back to the office web viewer.

  • Saved Views: Any new Public Model Views or viewpoint folders created by your BIM Lead are automatically refreshed and ready to open on your mobile landing page.

Getting the Latest Model Versions

When a design team uploads a new version of a model (such as an updated Revit or IFC file), the project administrator federates the new model on the web.

  • You don't need to do anything to retrieve this update. The next time you open the model in your mobile app, the viewer automatically streams the latest version of the physical geometry to your screen.

How Procore Saves Your Mobile Data (Caching)

To keep the app running fast and save your cellular data limits, Procore uses Smart Client-Side Caching:

  • The app stores up to 5GB of model data directly in your device’s local memory.

  • When you reopen a model you’ve viewed before, the app loads it instantly from local memory and only downloads the specific, incremental changes or updates made since your last visit.

Working Offline (No Signal Areas)

Coming Soon While real-time syncing currently relies on cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity, offline functionality is an area of ongoing exploration for potential future updates.
