Currently, only Admin permissions are available. Procore will add more permission levels later.

Use the Laser tool in the right toolbar to calculate surface-to-edge distances. This provides instant visual feedback of horizontal, vertical, and depth dimensions. It also helps you verify spatial requirements and ensure your project meets design specifications without manual calculations.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions

    Currently, only Admin permissions are available. Procore will add more permission levels later.

  • Additional Information:

    • When a measurement mode is active, the icon in the toolbar appears blue.

    • To exit the active measurement mode, click the icon again or press ESC on your keyboard or click the Red X that appears on the right toolbar.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool.

  2. Open a model

  3. In the right toolbar, click the Measurements icon.

  4. Click Laser to activate the mode.

    Tip

    How can you tell when a mode is active and how do you turn it off? When a mode is active, the toolbar icon turns Blue. You can click This image shows the Exit Mode icon in the Right Toolbar of the Viewer in the Model Manager tool.or press ESC to exit the active mode.

  5. Drag your cursor over any location on the model. Green lines appear to show the location's X, Y, and Z axes.

  6. Click a location on the 3D model to set the X, Y, and Z measurement points. The green lines change color:

    • Yellow: Horizontal (X-axis)

    • Red: Depth (Y-axis)

    • Blue: Vertical (Z-axis)

  7. Optional. Additional dimension options:

    1. Move a Dimension. To move a dimension, hover over it. Next, click and hold its Grab Bar (::) to drag it to a new position.

    2. Dimension Endpoints. Shapes indicate the type of point selected:

      1. Line: The dimension hits an edge.

      2. Circle: The dimension hits a surface.

    3. Endpoint Arrows. Directional arrows appear near each line's endpoint. Click an arrow to extend a dimension to the next surface or edge intersection.

    4. Remove a Dimension. Choose from these options:

      1. To remove all line segments, hover over the dimension and click the Delete icon.

      2. To remove a specific line segment, hover over a line and click the X next to the measurement's label.
