Setup Procore Safety Card (Mobile)

The Procore Safety Card (Closed Beta) allows you to store a worker's certifications and training data directly onto an NFC chip embedded in a helmet or a QR sticker. This enables instant on-site verification using a mobile device.

Prerequisites

Before using the Safety Card feature, ensure the following requirements are met:

  • Directory Setup: The worker must exist as a User in your Procore Company Directory.

  • Resource Planning: The Directory user must be linked to the company’s Resource Planning People list for certification data to sync.

  • Hardware: An NFC-enabled helmet (such as Studson) or a Procore QR sticker.

    • A mobile device (iPhone 7+ or NFC-capable Android) with the Procore App installed.

  • Permissions: You must have 'Admin' level permissions on the Company Directory to "Write" data to an NFC chip.

Activate Studson Helmets

If you are using brand-new Studson helmets, the embedded NFC chip must be prepared before Procore can write to it.

  1. Download the Twiceme App: Use the third-party Twiceme app to format the helmet's chip.

  2. Initialize the Chip: Follow the Twiceme process to "Upload a Medical ID" to the helmet.

    • Note: This information does not need to be accurate; it simply activates and formats the chip.

  3. Ready for Procore: Once formatted, the chip is "unlocked" and can be overwritten with Procore Safety Card data.

View a Safety Card (Mobile)

Field leads can view a worker's qualifications digitally before ever writing them to a chip.

  1. Open the Procore Mobile App and select your project.

  2. Navigate to the Directory tool.

  3. Search for and select the Worker (ensure they are linked to Resource Planning).

  4. Tap the Safety Card icon on their contact page.

  5. Review: You will see a list of their certifications (e.g., CHST, OSHA), status, and expiration dates.

Write Data to an NFC Chip

Once a worker's profile is accurate, follow these steps to "program" their helmet or sticker.

  1. Open the worker's Safety Card in the Procore Mobile app (see Part 3).

  2. Tap the Write to NFC button at the bottom of the screen.

  3. When the "Ready to Scan" prompt appears, hold your mobile device against the NFC chip (on the helmet or sticker).

  4. Hold the device steady until the app confirms the writing process is 100% complete.

The worker’s certifications are now stored on the helmet. Any supervisor can now tap their phone to the helmet to instantly verify that worker's qualifications.
