Explore the Core Next-Gen Viewer for Procore BIM 2.0

Coming Soon: Availability in Select Markets

The Next-Gen Viewer replaces the legacy Procore BIM Viewer.

  • For the United Kingdom & Ireland (UKI): Coming soon to General Availability (GA) for all customers using the Documents, Document Management, or Assets tool in support of the Common Data Environment (CDE).

  • For all other regions: Now in Beta for all customers using the Documents, Document Management, or Assets tools. You do not need a Procore BIM license. Contact your Procore point of contact for information.

  • For registered participants of the Model Manager (Beta) program: Registered participants currently receive support for the Documents and Document Management workflows. Procore will announce support for the Assets tool at a later date.

The core Next-Gen Viewer is a foundational feature of the Procore BIM 2.0 vision that streams massive 3D models without hardware limitations. The core viewer is supported when viewing model files in your project's Documents, Document Management, or Assets tool. It does not require a Procore BIM Enterprise license.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:

    • Documents & Document Management (PDM): 'Read-Only' or higher to view model files.

    • Assets: 'Standard' to bulk-create assets.

    • Model Manager (Beta): 'Read-Only' to view model files or 'Admin' to manage federated project models and discipline-specific model files.

Prerequisites

  • Access: Verify that your Procore user account has been granted active access to the project's Documents, Document Management, or Assets tool.

  • Preparation: Upload a valid 3D model to your project's chosen document repository. See Upload Model Files to Procore.

Steps

  1. Choose the appropriate tool for your workflow:

    1. Basic Viewing: Navigate to the Documents or Document Management tools to access these core features: Object Tree, Object Properties, Camera Field of View (FOV), Measure Tools, Navigation Sphere and Navigation Toolbar.

    2. Asset Registry Setup: Navigate to the Assets tool to access these core features: Object Tree, Object Properties, Camera Field of View (FOV), Navigation Sphere and Navigation Toolbar. You can also bulk-populate your registry directly from Revit® or IFC model files. See Bulk Create Assets from a 3D Model File Using the Assets Tool.

    3. Model Coordination: Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool to access all core features and to unlock advanced federation and coordination capabilities. To learn more, see Use the Left Toolbar or Use the Right Toolbar.

  2. Open a model file to inspect it in the core Next-Gen Viewer.
