Streamlining your team's Model Coordination process requires tools for both analyzing and preparing 3D project data. This guide provides helpful resources so you can leverage the Model Manager (Beta) to conduct a thorough interrogation of complex geometry. It also provides links that show you how to condition your views to create clear, actionable insights for your entire project team.
The viewer features advanced tools and features that empower teams to deeply inspect and navigate complex model geometry. You can interrogate a model using the following capabilities:
Advanced Measurements: Users can verify precise dimensions using specific tools like point-to-point lines, laser measurements (which snap to surfaces across X, Y, and Z axes), and spot coordinates:
Sectioning: You can slice through the 3D model using section planes to reveal and inspect hidden internal structures, layers, or subsystems
Property Inspection & Search: The Properties panel allows users to search for specific attributes, filter items by checking property values, and verify the metadata attached to individual objects
Isolating and Hiding Elements: Using the Object Tree or the right-click context menu, users can quickly select an object and choose to "Hide" it, "Isolate" it (which hides everything else or turns the rest of the model into a semi-transparent "X-Ray" mode), or "Select Similar" objects that share key attributes.
Conditioning refers to the process of configuring and optimizing the model view so it is clear and actionable for the broader project team. You can condition a model by:
Tailoring Visibility: Before saving a view, you condition the scene by adding dynamic section planes, hiding or showing entire files via the Object Tree, and isolating specific elements so the model displays exactly what you want.
Adding 2D Overlay
In the Next-Gen Viewer, select 2D Overlay to map a drawing to the 3D model. Files are sourced from your project's chose document repository.
Enable 2D Navigation for Drawings
Saving Viewpoints: Once the model is fully conditioned, you can save it as viewpoint. This involves assigning the view a name and project status (such as For Coordination or For Construction).
Elevating Viewpoints to Project Views. After you have your viewpoint, you will have the ability to set it as either a Private view for yourself or a Public view accessible to the entire team on the Model Manager (Beta) landing page.
Remove Viewpoints from Project Views
You can also manage project views from the Model Manager (Beta) landing page.
