Docking panels from the left toolbar in the Next-Gen Viewer pins key coordination utilities directly to your workspace, ensuring uninterrupted access to model data. This layout choice allows you to cross-reference items, 2D sheets, viewpoints, or structural object trees side-by-side with your 3D model. Active vertical scrolling in docked panels prevents content from being cut off, allowing you to access all items in long lists.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:

    • 'Read Only' level permissions or higher on the project's Model Manager (Beta) tool

  • Additional Information:

    • Hover your cursor over the docked panel to scroll through list items that extend below the visible area.

    • Hover your cursor over the top and bottom edge to increase or decrease vertical panel length.

    • Docked panels have a fixed width. Undock a panel to resize its width.

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Navigate to the project's Model Manager tool.

  2. Open a model.

  3. In the left toolbar, you can:

    • Open a panel. Click each button to open the corresponding tool panel. You can open one, multiple, or all panels. Panels you open together align automatically in the dock.

    • Undock a panel. Click and hold a panel and drag it from the dock and drop it in the main viewer area. An undocked panel resizes freely in width and height.

    • Dock a panel. Click and hold a panel, drag and drop it into the dock. You can move panels into any vertical position you need. A docked panel returns to a fixed width.

    • Minimize or maximize a panel. Click the Minimize (_) icon to minimize a panel. You can minimize one panel or multiple panels at once. Click the same control to maximize a minimized panel.

    • Resize a panel. Hover your mouse cursor over the horizontal line separating two panels. When the cursor changes to a resize icon (up and down arrows), click and drag the line up or down to adjust the panel height.

    • Close a panel. Click the Close (x) icon or click the tool's button again. You can close panels individually.
