Currently, only Admin permissions are available. 'Read-Only' and 'Standard' permission levels are coming soon.

You can use the Assets tool to automatically extract and map the physical components in your 3D models files directly to your Procore project's asset registry. This automation eliminates manual data entry, prevents transcription errors, and ensures the registry precisely matches your model's specifications. This provides your team with an efficient way to view and track your project's equipment and materials.

Important

While you can view these models within a broader federated scene, you cannot bulk-create assets directly from that scene. To bulk-create assets, you must use the individual model files instead.

Things to Consider

Prerequisites

  • Enable the Assets tool on your project. See Add and Remove Project Tools.

  • Upload a valid 3D Model to your projects chosen documentation repository. See Upload Model Files to Procore.

    Important

Make sure your model file's geometry and assets data are final before uploading it to Procore. The system does not currently support asset tracking or asset version history.

Steps

Step 1: Locate & Filter the BIM Assets for Import

  1. Navigate to the project's Assets tool.

  2. Open the Next-Gen Viewer using one of the following actions:

    • Click the views toggle bar and select BIM View.

    • Click the Import drop-down menu and select Import from BIM.

  3. Select the model from the top-left drop-down menu. This list shows all models processed by the Document Management tool.

  4. Click Add from BIM.

  5. In the Import Assets window, select the desired type from Asset Type menu.

  6. Under Filter Conditions, add any desired filters as follows:

    • Select Property. Choose your structural category from the menu. For example, Ifcclass or ObjectType.

    • Conditions: Select a condition from the Search Type menu. For example, Contains.

    • Property Value. Enter a description for the property. For example, Air Handling Unit or AHU.

  7. (Optional) If you want to add multiple conditions, click Add Conditions and repeat the steps above.

  8. Click Run Search.

Step 2: Select Your Results for Extraction

  1. Review the search results under Select Results.

  2. Mark one or more checkboxes for the elements to extract. When you click a row, Procore automatically zooms to and highlights the element so you can view it in the 3D space.

  3. Click Next.

Step 3: Map Asset Types to Object Properties in the Model

  1. In the Map Properties pane, map each asset field listed under All Fields as follows:

    • Object Properties. Select an model object property from this list to map it. For example, map the asset Name to the Name property in the model object.

    • Default Values. Select a default value for the mapping. For example, if you want all the extracted asset types to share the same status in the model, map the Status field to Planned.

  2. Ensure all the required fields contain a mapped value. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).

  3. Click Next.

Step 4: Preview and Finish Import

  1. In the Asset Preview page, review the mapping schema.

  2. Scroll to the right and up/down to review the full schema.

  3. (Optional) If you want to make changes, click Back.

  4. When you are ready to continue, click Import. Procore imports your mapping schema, this may take a few minutes to complete.

  5. In the Summary page, review the results of the import process. The summary shows the number of objects, the number of assets created in the model, and any failed objects. If any failures occurred, you can attempt to remap those specific objects.

  6. Click Close to return to the active workspace. Your newly imported assets will be visible in the left pane.
