Procore Model Manager - Beta Access & Feedback

The Model Manager (Beta) features and documentation are subject to change without notice.

    • How to Access: Participating companies must sign the Procore Beta Agreement. Once signed, your Procore Administrator coordinates with your Procore point of contact to enable Model Manager (Beta) on specific Procore projects.

    • How to report critical issues: Report breaking changes to Procore Customer Support. For general feedback or non-critical issues, contact your Beta program lead or Procore point of contact.


Currently, only Admin permissions are available. Procore will add more permission levels later.

On the left side of the Next-Gen Viewer is a persistent, vertical toolbar that puts navigation and frequently used design coordination tools at your fingertips. You can move this toolbar around the page.

Follow these steps to learn how to use the toolbar icons:

Items

Click the Items icon to manage your Connected BIM workflows by linking the 3D model to Procore project tools. Use this panel to view linked records, drop 3D pins, or create new items (like Coordination Issues) directly within the 3D model.

    Follow these steps to link objects in a 3D Model to items in supported Procore tools.

    Link Objects to a New Item

    1. Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool..

    2. Open a model.

    3. Select one or multiple objects in the 3D model:

      • To select one object, right-click it and choose Create New Item from the menu.

      • To select multiple objects, right-click one object and choose Select Similar to highlight all identical items in the model. Next, right-click again and choose Create New Item from the menu.

    4. In the item creation form for the selected tool, complete the required fields and click Create.

    Link Objects to an Existing Item

    1. Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool..

    2. Open a model.

    3. Select one or multiple objects in the 3D model:

      • To select one object, right-click it and choose Link Existing Item from the menu.

      • To select multiple objects, right-click one object and choose Select Similar to highlight all identical items in the model. Next, right-click again and choose Link Existing Item from the menu.

    4. In the Related Items window, select the Inspections tool. A list of existing inspection records appears.

    5. Select the specific inspection record to attach. You can only select one (1) record at a time.

    6. Click Link.

    Pin connected items in 3D models Show / Hide Steps

    Follow the appropriate steps below to either create a new pinned item or link a pin to an existing item in a 3D model.

    Create a New Pinned Item in a 3D Model

    Follow these steps to create a new pinned item in the federated project model:

    1. Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool.

    2. Open the federated project model.

    3. Click the Items icon on the left toolbar.

    4. Select a tool (for example, Coordination Issues, Observations, etc) to see items correlated to the model.

    5. Choose one (1) option:

      • If this is the first item, click Create.

      • If there are existing items, click the Plus (+) icon.

    6. Click a location in the model's 3D space to drop the pin.

    7. Fill out the required fields in the creation form and click Create.

    Procore creates a new item and adds a new pin to the Items list.

    Link a Pin to an Existing Item

    Follow these steps to link a pin to an existing item in the federated project model:

    1. Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool.

    2. Open the federated project model.

    3. In the left toolbar, click the Items icon.

    4. Select a tool (for example, Coordination Issues, Observations, etc) to see items correlated to the model.

    5. On the desired item card, click +Pin.

    6. Click a location in the model's 3D space to drop the pin. Procore links the existing item to a pin.

2D Views

Click the 2D Views icon to overlay mapped 2D drawings (PDF) onto the model for precise alignment. You can also convert specific sheets into interactive 2D minimaps to simplify navigation through the 3D space.

    Add 2D overlay to the project model Show / Hide Steps

    1. Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool.

    2. Open the model.

    3. In the left toolbar, click the 2D Views icon.

    4. In the 2D Views window, click Add Overlay.

    5. In the Add 2D Overlays window, select the PDF to map to the model.

      • Location. Select the level(s) you want from the drop down list. You also have these options:

        • Edit Level. To modify an existing level, select a level in the list and click Edit Level.

        • Define a New Level. To create a new level in the Locations utility of the Company Admin tool, click Define a New Level.

      • Drawings. Select a PDF drawing from the list. You also have the options:

        • If your project's chosen document repository is Documents, you can click Go to Drawings Tool to launch the Drawings tool in your browser to search for the exact file(s).

    6. Click Next.

    7. In the Mapping Name box, change the name if you want.

    8. Choose from these options:

      1. Map Model. Click this button to select two reference points on the model.

      2. Map Drawings. Click this button to select the two corresponding points on the drawing.

    9. When finished, click Add Overlay. A success message appears and the new PDF appears in your list of 2D overlays.

Viewpoints

Click the Viewpoints icon to create and manage field-ready project views. Use the Right toolbar to adjust the model—such as adding section planes—then save these views to capture specific camera angles and configurations.

    Add viewpoints to project views Show / Hide Steps

    Use these steps to create new viewpoints and add existing viewpoints to project views.

    1. Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool.

    2. In the Project Views card, click Add.

    3. In the Add Viewpoints to Project Views window, you have these options:

      1. Create a new viewpoint. Click the Create Viewpoint to open the federated project model in the document viewer with the Viewpoints window active.

      2. Add an existing viewpoint. Mark one or more checkboxes for the viewpoints to add and click Add. A green success banner notifies you when successfully added to the Project Views card.

    4. Additional options for managing viewpoints:

      1. Search Viewpoints. Start typing the name of a existing viewpoint in the Search Viewpoints box. If an existing project view exists, the Project View pill appears by the viewpoint in the list.

      2. Show/Hide Viewpoints. Click the Minus (-) icon to hide the viewpoints in the list. Click it again to show the viewpoints in the list.

      3. Create Viewpoint. Click the Plus (+) icon and choose Create Viewpoint.

      4. Create Folder. Click the Plus (+) icon and choose Create Folder.

      5. More (⋮). Click the More (⋮) and choose an option:

        • Update. Update an existing viewpoint.

        • Rename. Type a new name for the viewpoint.

        • Move to Folder. Move the selected viewpoint to the folder you want.

        • Add to Project Views/Remove from Project Views. Add the selected viewpoint to a project view or remove an existing project view from the list.

        • Delete. Permanently remove the selected project view.

    5. When finished, click Close. Procore saves your change automatically in the Project Views card.

    5. When finished, click Close. Procore saves your change automatically in the Project Views card.

Object Tree

Click the Object Tree icon to navigate the model’s structural hierarchy by Levels, Categories, or Families. This tool allows you to isolate specific elements or toggle visibility to focus on relevant model data.

    Interrogate a model with the Object Tree Show / Hide Steps

    Follow these steps to navigate a model with the Object Tree:

    1. Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool.

    2. Open a model.

    3. In the left toolbar, click the Object Tree icon to open it.

    4. Choose from these options:

      • Filter by Keyword: Enter text in the Filter by Keyword bar to find specific objects quickly.

      • Expand/Collapse Nodes: Click the arrows next to nodes to navigate the model hierarchy.

      • Toggle Visibility: Click the Eye Icon Eye Show icon.

      • Load More: Click More… at the bottom of the panel to view additional objects in the list.

    5. After you select an object in the viewer, right-click it to open a shortcut menu with these options:

      Tips
      • To undo any action, click the Undo icon in the right toolbar or press Command+Z.

      • To redo any action, click the Redo icon in the right toolbar or press CTRL+SHIFT+Z (Windows®) or Command+Y (Mac).

      • Hide Selected: Choose Actions > Hide Selected to remove your active pick from view.

      • Isolate: Click to expand the available options:

        • Isolate. Choose Actions > Isolate to hide everything except your selection.

        • Isolate in X-Ray Mode: Choose Actions > Isolate in X-Ray Mode to make the rest of the model transparent.

      • View Properties. Choose Actions > View Properties to open the Properties sheet for your selection.

      • Zoom to Selection. Choose Actions > Zoom to Select to zoom to the selection.

      • Add Section Plane. Choose Actions > Add Section Plane to zoom to draw a section plane.

Object Properties

Click the Object Properties icon toaccess detailed metadata for any selected object. View critical information such as dimensions, material types, and any associated Procore item links.

    Follow these steps to view object properties in the viewer.

    1. Navigate to the Model Manager (Beta) tool.

    2. Open a model.

    3. Click the Object Properties icon.

    4. In the Properties tab, you have these options:

      • Search for object properties. Type a keyword to show matching entries in the list.

      • Select one or more object properties. Mark one or more check box(es) to highlight your selection in Red.

    5. After selecting your item(s), click Actions menu and choose an option:

      • Hide Selected. Hides selected object(s) in the viewer.

      • Isolate. Shows only selected object(s) in the viewer.

      • Zoom to Selection. Zooms to the selected object(s).
